Episode 44: Sexting In a Crisis

Chryssy and Heather are recording in a new space! Details coming soon about our excitement to hang with the folks at Real Talk 93.3 in Tallahassee, the only locally owned radio station in our area. There are other changes coming to the show as well . . . so keep listening for news about our upcoming fun.

Today we ponder the relationship challenges that might be occurring as people are asked to stay home. We wonder how marriages are doing, if people like who they are quarantined with, and how the divorced folk are doing with sharing their kids in this current climate.

We wonder a bit about dating when you have to stay home – and it feels a little like “Love is Blind” is becoming ultra-reality. Chryssy really thinks there is a lot of sexting happening, and she wants to know why people won’t entertain her with details.

After this show was recorded, Chryssy received a couple articles about dating and sex during quarantine. You can find those here:

Additionally, we read that we can expect a baby boom because of a condom shortage. So hooray, we guess?

Episode 43: The Rules Are, There Are No Rules

3/25/2020

This is the first time that Chryssy and Heather are able to record the show after the COVID-19 outbreak put us all in social isolation.  As it is one of Heather's shows, it's a bit random and mostly a collection of silly observations about this COVID life, ranging from home school experiences to musings on excuses we can't use anymore now that we can't blame our personal shortcomings on things like traffic jams or sick children. We're living in  a brave new world, but the show must go on!

Episode 42: Your Dreams Came True, but Why?

3/20/2020

Chryssy had a major life event take place a couple weeks ago. She sold her business, a big part of her life for the last 15 years and, really, her first baby!

A $1000 loan that took 10 months to pay back somehow turned into a multi-million dollar business. Today’s episode, we take a little glance into how.

Chryssy pontificates on the people who contributed to this process, the lucky breaks along the way, and the set of skills that helped propel such a big thing.

Was she just in the right place at the right time? Was she a great decision maker for 15 years? Was she just connected with the people who could best help? It’s a combination, we thinks.

We hope that our listeners take a minute to reflect on the little bits along the way that lead to the good things in life.

Episode 39: How Honest is Too Honest?

Housekeeping – Chryssy and Heather are starting a video segment leading up to each weekly show that is FOR YOUR EYES ONLY! We will be presenting you with the Grab Bag topic FIRST, while still leaving our co-host blind. Check out the social media to be in the know.

We have a brief discussion on how to set yourself up with a better attitude when you just don’t have one. Heather gives is some real, actual tips to take AIM at.

From the Grab Bag today, we talk about “What do you do when your kiddo tells you a lie?” This spins out into a full on discussion about honesty.

Chryssy’s Cursory Google Search fetched us this article on “Radical Honesty” - https://www.huffpost.com/entry/radical-honesty-relationships_n_5baa7b26e4b0f143d10e0f88

We also recommend “The Invention of Lying,” a Ricky Gervais flick available on Netflix, and the full read of the Radical Honesty book.

Stop lying to others. More than anything, stop lying to yourself. Go forth with honesty and find your joy, young padawans.

Episode 38: Welcome to the System

Chryssy had her first foster baby last week, and it prompts a discussion about foster care, the pros and cons of leaving children with their biological families, race, socio-economic status, and starfish. You never know what you’re in for here.

There’s a brief chat about things to say and not to say to foster parents, and the emotional tax and toll on biological parents, foster parents, and children in care.

We muse about the new Netflix special “The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez” and remind one another that we all are responsible for really examining the many issues that lead to such a rough case. Let’s all remember that society’s problems are our problems, and passing the buck to someone else just doesn’t cut it.

We wrap with a Soapbox about making a difference – even if it’s for just one. Just a typical day on The Chryssy and Heather Show. Go get it, dear ones.

Episode 37: It's Not You, It's Me. Actually, It's You.

3/4/2020

This episode begins with Heather recommending that Chryssy plan her next Netflix binge for a show called "Naked Attraction." Chryssy is all about it. Then Heather does a super-secret scientific poll on Facebook (and blocks Chryssy from it so it stays secret) about what rules people have for blocking, hiding, snoozing, or unfriending people on social media. The ladies discuss spring cleaning their social media accounts, times when they have been ghosted or unfriended, and then Heather has a challenge for listeners for how to fill the hole that is left when you delete the negative people.
